I love how when Simon leaves a comment, it reads "Simon says." How is is that I have never noticed this before?

It's not so much that I don't like real maple syrup...it's just that I don't want to pay extra for what I see as a minimal difference. You'll note that I ate your maple syrup just fine ;) My wife on the other hand, seems to hate the real thing. But then, she hates peanut butter and CoolWhip....so her judgement is a bit suspect.

And Moonshot was certainly awakened by your "vocal stylings." The good news is that rather than complain about the noise, she mentioned that you had a good voice...she made no such mention of the drumming ;)

Mark, if you insist on taking an insult in stride, you deprive me of its full enjoyment. I hope you realise that.

Shan – I actually find myself missing them, too. Can you believe it?

Simon – Considering that the original can’t really claim to feature “vocal stylings” as much as screaming, I’ll take that in stride. Now, I need to watch Army of Darkness again.

Dave – A guy I worked with back in Arkansas was from Vermont and always used to tell me about the maple syrup. Cool stories. Thanks for sharing.

Émilie B. – I think the difference was mainly from the process between tree and store shelf, not the source itself. I could be wrong, of course.

Just North East of Vermont, into Québec, there is a region called “Beauce” and that is where my favourite maple syrup comes from (we stock up every Spring). I can’t figure how American maple syrup would taste.

Still enjoying the recounting. I like the Shannon and Mark art walk picture – nice DOF.

Wow... sounds like a great day!

REAL maple Syrup!!! A school friend of mine owns one of the largest maple syrup businesses in CT:
Lamothe's Sugar House

And I always love going there to watch it being made, and sampling the maple sugar candy and (forgive me not knowing how to spell this so I'll do it phonetically) "la tsier" (ask the Canadians if they know it.....)
My grandmother used to make it (we had a lot of family making syrup in northern Vermont when I was a kid and always had hundreds of cans of it around).

Ah... memories...

Also without, alas, the Boomstick. If only someone had remembered to utter, "Gimme some sugar, baby!"

Your photo captions are always a highlight, Mark. Not nearly as enjoyable as the pictures themselves, of course, but a dose of wit to go along with a moment captured in time is never a bad thing.

I still find myself reeling in memory of that candy store. I can't recall ever having been hit with that much nostalgia all at once before. It was nearly a sensory overload, albeit a highly enjoyable one.

(Calling your singing on "Sabotage" some sort of "vocal stylings" is the very epitome of euphamism, my friend. Says the man who can't sing worth a damn.)
