LOL, I grew up on mini-bikes with only two wheels. First it was a kind of cumbersome, loud model, one of the first on the market. My dad seemed to get a crazy kick out of them. Then he gave us a Honda 60 I believe and then a 90. I guess as time goes by, they keep adding a wheel...

Dave - We all had a blast! Maybe next time Benjamin can ride on the trail.

Pops - I found that photo in Shannon's collection and just had to use it. Sometimes she uses a picture of herself alone on her Facebook profile, so I figured it was fair. The wording has been that way for quite some time, though.

Boys love vehicles, don't they?

Moksha - The three-wheeler's demise made me sad. A four-wheeler will never be as much fun to ride. Taking a three-wheeler around a muddy or snowy curve? Nothing more fun than that. Plus, how impressive is a cross-up on a four-wheeler? Come on.

I am trying not to despise the electric mini-cars and trucks that the kids drive around these days. Get some exercise! Sheesh. We don't see very many around our neighborhood, but that's because for the most part it's for first-time home buyers (which we were not) who don't have the cash (or credit!, just pay for it later) to plunk down on one of those swank, shrunk Escalades.

I grew up with a three-wheeler. Sure it tipped sometimes...but that's what made riding it an art-form, right?

The kids in our neighborhood all have motorized mini-SUVs. On a warm spring day you can look out on our cul-de-sac and see a veritable monster truck rally. Lutine loves to play with them, but I'm hesitent to buy such a thing for her for reasons not much different than you've described. I'd like her to master self-propulsion before she starts to take battery-powered transit for granted.

That said...they're fun little toys and trail-rated machines are even cooler. Hitting the trails is just a great family outing, too. I'm glad Ben had a good time with it.

Changed the "About Mark" photo, did you? Having an attack of narcissism? Of course, I like the old one, but times change. And how about that dichotomy between "choice" and "day?"

And now all my grandsons are racing around in off-road vehicles, some put-putts, some electric. Either way, stand clear!
