Founts of Ben

(click to enlarge — cropped to get subject off center)

My Pic of the Week feature (on Fridays) had lapsed, and this photo seemed appropriate considering the 85-degree temps we’ve had lately. Benjamin absolutely loves water fountains and never passes one without taking a drink.

The Project Green pic I picked (below) is from the same Arboretum outing (where I captured one of my all-time favorite people pics).

Ah… one of the many, MANY benefits of sitting deep within one’s 20th consecutive hour at the office is that you get to be the VERY FIRST to comment on Mark’s Friday picture post. It’s a rare bird that gets to do that before Dave most of the time, so I’m going to count myself lucky (and a wee bit off my rocker right about now) and leave some sort of comment.

Which I seem to have done just above.

    Um… what else?

    Hmmm… lemme think.

I like how you referred to your son as “subject”. Like you’re about to perform experimental surgery on him or something. You insensitive cad! He’s cute, for goodness sake! Give him some credit. Or at least Shannon some credit for providing his looks. Ya big-headed freak.

And that green horse looks kinda creepy. Seems like it should have a horn on its head and be proclaimed as the world’s last unicorn. Or something. I betcha I’m going to go to bed (eventually) and dream of unicorns performing experimental surgery on your son with their horns. I’m sorry for the mental image that creates for all of you reading this, but that’s just my state of mind right now.

In fact, that thick tree branch in the photo looks like it’s sprouting out of the faux horse’s head. Good perspective shot there Mark.

    UNICORN POWER!!

    *laughing at Simon*
You can HAVE the first post…. while I’m sleeping comfortably in my bed Simon!!!

Mark, I’ve always loved pictures of water in motion.. and this one’s great!

    Have a great weekend…

I LOVE THE PHOTO OF YOUR SON! Love the color, composition, motion and especially the subject.

Love both these pictures. Benjamin looks so happy, wish water fountains still made me smile like that :)

The world’s biggest chia-pet! The horse, not Ben. Not only a good picture of Ben, but a great picture of the water.

Excellent photos both. I’m happy with them for so many reasons. The frozen water, the look on Ben’s face, the odd horse who looks as if he has been the victim of some Harry Potter spell, and the way they both teamed up to offer Simon an outlet for his overworked insanity.

I enjoy both your photos. They are both very green. Little boys with red hair have always been eye-catchers for me. ;-D

    Hey Mark!

Sorry I haven’t been so quick in my commenting! I am drowning in between Project Green and post editing my photo shoots from last week! You would think that green would be easier to find but it is actually harder to see I think! Keep trying!

I love the pic of Ben….so cute and I can’t believe you got a fountain shot like I did…..great minds! :)

Hope you have a good weekend!

Simon - Your nonsensical (okay, half-sensical) blather made me laugh, yet somehow made me think. I considered for a few seconds that it was cold to refer to Benjamin as the “subject,” but what the heck? He knows I love him. I think. Oh, no. What if he doesn’t know I love him, and he grows up to be a felon about whom everybody says, “He was a quiet boy, but sure, I believe he did it.” Oh, the agony!

Dave and Pops - The water’s motion is my second favorite part of the top picture. Pops, I know you prefer stopping water in motion as opposed to making it look all silky. In the case of shots like this, I’m with you.

Moksha - I like the Harry Potter spell theory. That horse sure looked cursed.

Anna - I know you’re busy. Me too. Now go back to that post production work and make some money!

Project Green Visitors - Thanks for dropping by and I’m opening your sites in separate tabs even as I type.

Mark…that second pic you sent me is hilarious! I hate it when I have those days…when I miss my mouth while drinking! Especially when it is a fountain….it goes straight up your nose!

Thanks for the encouragement for me to get back to work!

    Great pics!

Your son is just joyful, a great reminder to enjoy all the simple things. I’m going to make sure I play with the water fountain at work tonight.

And LOL at pop’s comment - “worlds biggest chia-pet” - Indeed. Great green.

    Hey Mark,
Thanks for taking the time to post in my 100 favorites post! And you’re right, I do like people. I think that pictures of our loved ones tell so many stories and just make us smile. I must say that I REALLY like the picture of you and your son that is set as your profile picture- it is just so feel good.

What wonderful photos. Your son looks like he’s having so much fun. (He also looks like he IS fun in a mischievous kind of way). The horse is just cool.

This is such a great picture of Ben. And the moving water is as fun to look at as Benjamin’s expression.

As the mom of a 3 1/2 year old who has never passed up a water fountain in his life, I had to smile at your explanation of the photo.
