Pretty gross sounds if you don’t have the picture! Once one realizes it’s a straw, he becomes a virtuso. I couldn’t quite recognize the tune.

That is one of the cutest pics I have seen of Ben! Cool audio Mark!

    Have a good day there!

Somebody get that boy a digery doo. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAr2V9Ufc9s]. That is awesome. The best part is the laugh at the end. Reminds me of some music tracks that keep recording the artists after the song is over and they’re talking or laughing. I love watching the kids entertain themselves. It’s the best.

    OK maybe it’s Didgeridoo.

Little boys and gross/funny sounds go together like mac and cheese, peanut butter and jelly, Browncoats and dashed hopes.

And that is a really good pic of Ben. Sort of guilty and unapologetic at the same time.

The giggle at the end truly clinched it for me. I was really enjoying the contradiction of looking at these sweet eyes, couples with this horrible sound…ah the complexities of a child’s cuteness. Then the giggle reminds us of exactly why we put up with all the totally uncute stuff they do. Great post, Mark,

I’m surprised at how gross some found the sound. I thought it was kind of neat. I guess that speaks volumes about me. Heck, I cut out the gross stuff.

Pops - No tune, as far as I could tell.

Anna - I loved this series of pics. I shot several, but I wanted to let the audio elicit the smile, so I picked this one.

Josh - The didgeridoo is cool. I’ve always liked that sound.

Simon - Yes, all those things go together well. Maybe it’s my inner child preventing me from hearing the “gross” in the sounds.

Capturing a look on a kid’s face isn’t easy when they know the camera’s there. Somehow, he just kept doing his thing and didn’t ham it up at all.

Moksha (and Josh) - I agree the giggle makes it. That was why I left that part in. It is a darn good thing kids sprinkle lots of cute for us to enjoy among the not-so-cute. Then, of course, there’s the love.

    I’m getting verklempt.

Oh, I didn’t mean gross in a bad way exactly. I’m a big fan of gross noises like this one. It’s just not what I would typically think of as a “cute” noise, which is what the picture would imply. But rest assured that my inner child was totally enjoying the sound in its own right ;)

This was adorable. Ben’s voice/giggle is one of the cutest ever. Our little Andrew has that same quality (a kind of hoarseness, sorta) in his voice and I love it.
Don’t ask me how I know this, but a person who does this with a straw is called a “glick.”
