Firefly Photos (Pic of the Week)

I geeked out a little after my co-worker and I sat down for dinner at The Firefly Grill. She returned from a restroom trip to find me taking pictures of things on the table. Just a little fun with macro photography.
The forks look huge in the vertical shot. I already clicked the shutter for the other pic by the time I realized one of them wasn’t clean. Ugh.
I liked this place for two reasons:

The name “Firefly” evokes memories of one of my favorite TV shows ever.

It was attractive and inviting inside.

Sadly, although the surroundings were modern and the service excellent, the Chicken Picatta I had wasn’t very good. A young lady promoting their special Valentine’s Day dinner had no luck swaying us because 1) we’re not a couple, and 2) we won’t be in town that day.
Other than that, I was sold!
That’s as exciting as it gets over here today. Have a nice weekend.

In small view, I liked the vertical shot better. However, upon expandisizing, I really like the textures in the close-up. The napkin fibers and the nicks in the forks. Good stuff. Another example of art staring you in the face that I would never have thought to capture. Nicely done.
These guys should totally have a “Mal’s Burger.” No explanation, no fancy sc-fi theme…just a little nod to those who would get it. You should go back and suggect that. ;)
It’s sad when you find a restaurant that you hope will be something, and it falls far short. I hate that…..
But, I do like the pictures!
Have a great weekend Mark.
Hehe, those are excellent reasons not to be partaking of the Valentine dinner.
Not just the Mal’s Burger. They should also have the:
Captain Tightpants Veggie Wrap
Jayne’s Meatlovers Pizza
An 80 proof shot from the bar called The River Tam Slam
Kalie’s Easy-Bake Strawberry Chocolate Cake
The Zoe Balanced Ration Platter
And of course all apples would come to the table pre-sliced to avoid annoying head explosions.
Is that a heron or a crane in the banner? I can never remember how to tell the difference…
Moksha - The napkin texture and the logo are what got me started. And, of course the forks’ tines were kind of cool.
Mal’s Burger. Definitely.
Dave - Our customers kept telling us that Firefly was expensive, and they didn’t really say much about the food. It was expensive (but not insanely so), and now I can understand why they referred us to the local steak house instead. It was a family place, a step or two above Village Inn, but the food was tasty from start to finish.
Jay - And how. Does everybody understand what that means? My wife didn’t the first time I said it to her.
Simon - Great ideas! If I still attended the monthly shindigs down here, I would share this with them. Oh well, when I shared other “Firefly”/Serenity based things with them, they never gave any feedback, so this probably wouldn’t have been any different. I wasn’t nerdy enough for them, I guess.
I know, that’s hard to believe.
It’s a Great Blue Heron.
Firefly Grill….a cool name. Hate that the food didn’t rate.
I don’t know why but the two forks look soo .. well they look attention .. perhaps the way they are placed.
I love the vertical image - and these are just the sort of photo that I would take. I find I notice more now that I have a camera with me at all times.
Very cool pics Mark, they make me want to get the watercolors out.
I’m picturing you, making sure the forks were perfectly situated on the napkins… ;-)
