Update after comments: I was sitting in a car waiting for a co-worker to run inside our hotel and ask directions to a local restaurant. So, to answer your questions, yes, this is a reflection in a hotel window, and yes, I snapped it (with my trusty little Canon A560).

This is a stunning composition. Reflective shots are often difficult to compose and meter, but you’ve nailed the technical bits while infusing the scene with a wonderful sense of drama. Definitely frameable.

I just caught part of “Forrest Gump,” which is a great movie by the way, and it made me think of you. I think you said you were somewhere in Alabama, so naturally when Forrest says, “Greenbow Alabama,” in the movie, I thought…I wonder where Mark is in relation to Greenbow, or if it even exists.

At any rate, be careful out there, and I like the picture.

The colours are so warm, and the image is compelling. Lovely. (And my immediate thought was hotel windows, too, so nobody swayed anything… I don’t know you and didn’t know you were traveling, but those windows just look hotel-y.) Now that I’ve said that, I’ll feel rather silly if I’m wrong.

A comment on the artificial environment in which we all live: the beauty of the natural, itself stark and unwarm, caught in the reflection of the tinted glass and hermetically sealed windows of an impersonal and anonymous commercial structure with drapes drawn against intrusion of the out-of-doors.

Or maybe it’s just an overgrown but dead potted plant in someone’s office.

Sorry if I spoiled it – I didn’t even think about that. It was just so obvious to me (but I knew you were staying in a hotel). It’s such a neat photo – I just noticed how the folds in the curtain add to the effect. Very cool, honey.

This is one of those cool shots that I would not have thought to take. The reflection is beautiful contracsted agasint the squared off lines of the hotel. The rolling hills of Alabama in the back-ground. It really is stunning down there despite the bad rap the state gets.

Pops totally has the best comment here. I was just going to say something like, “Cool shot!” It’s the interruption in the middle that really makes this work (for me) on an artistic level. With the continuation of the branches on the left hand side. (There, did that sound like I know what I’m talking about? Because I really don’t.)
