Such focus.
I dig the transparent shadow of Ben’s backpack in the top shot. And the bottom one is clearly meant to pull on the heartstrings of those of us currently watching their own children grow up too fast.
That bottom picture would be even cooler if Ben were riding off into a sunset and he had some sort of coyboy hat bike helmet. And if his bike were really a horse. And if there were some hot dame he’d just rescued slung across his saddle. Yeah!
Thanks to the WW’ers who dropped by today. I’m sure any of you who are parents understand just how difficult it is to avoid using the child(ren) in every WW post. They’re such a large part of our lives it’s hard to postpone the inevitable kid post forever.
Linda - We tried it one day, cold turkey, but it didn’t work. Then I read up on various techniques, and pretty much none of them includes a baker’s dozen of training wheels rides and then yanking them. I raised them (which you can’t tell very well from theses pictures), and soon will raise them some more. When he gets a little momentum, he’s using only the tires.
Yes, it will be a thrill when they come off. My bicycle was a huge part of my childhood!
Dave - And to you! I’m sure your family will enjoy the meat stuffing you make this year.
Yen - And irresistible.
Brian - alliteration in a comment. Nicely done.
And Miles to Go - Nope. Still in a two-day preschool. He just loves wearing that backpack.
Moksha - The kid knows determination, and I like that. He doesn’t seem to have an ADD problem thus far.
Thanks for noticing the shadow! It was the main reason I chose this particular shot. Late afternoon and early morning provides neat, long shadows (which can be good or bad, depending).
Simon - Funny you say that. Ben will take his first horse ride on Thursday or Friday. Miniature horse with his GG holding the reins, but still. His mommy and his aunt will be there, and they’re pretty hot dames. But, they’re blood kin, so that probably doesn’t quite fit your fantasy, unless you’re in Arkansas. Which we will be, but sorry, still no.
Fun times! :)
My WW is up too! :)
How cute! lovely pictures :)
Happy WW!
I was thinking that a helmet when I was learning to ride would have saved me many bumps!
I’m thinking of the thrill you and Ben will be feeling when those training wheels come off… :-)
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Happy Thanksgiving bud…. great pics as always!
He is just ADORABLE! :) Love his bike!
Mine is up here;
Wordless
Happy WW!
Fun times of first freedom.

Happy Thanksgiving Mark, Shan and Ben.

(Happy Thanksgiving, too.)
Brings back great memories of my boys over 20 years ago…
Happy WW…

Correction - his aunt is NOT blood kin. Not saying that makes any difference, but I don’t like spreading falsehoods.
Good and bad, true enough cuz we also had to put up with a shadow of the photographer’s head ;)
Great pics. I remember when my kids first started riding with training wheels. My how time whizzes by!
Moksha - I tried to keep myself out of it while shooting, but I should get some credit for not cropping later.
Does he ride his bike to school? Happy WW :P
Reminds me of those days… and especially my first time. It was so, so, so fun.
Great!!! He can do that. And always with helmet!!! :-)
