Thanks for that, Mark!
He did really well. I’m sure there was an appropriate degree of editing, but I was expecting more chaos from your description.
I could almost feel the well-deserved pride beaming from behind the camera. Great footage.
*LOL* that was great… but what’s the batting helmet for???
YAY for geeky credits!
Those are the best.
If Coach Richard trains Ben well enough, Barry Bonds and Hank Aaron are in trouble…
I figured this post wouldn’t get many casual viewers from the WW crowd. Not like a simple photo that takes only a few seconds to see.
Moksha - While the chaos was going on, I wasn’t running the video camera. I was reining in the boy. You’re starting to relate to that, I’m sure. By the way, since you’ve made your own music in the past, I thought you’d be interested to know that a co-worker’s brother created the music on the front and back of this video. He got married in a Star Trek wedding in Las Vegas, on the Enterprise bridge. The middle piece was from a Laptop Battles web site that I visit occasionally.
Dave - I think they’re just trying to get the kids accustomed to all the gear. Or maybe they just think it looks real cute. But, you also have to consider that some of these little kids have a lot of wind-up to their throws around the field, but not much control over where it goes.
Simon - The credits add a lot of time and a MB or so, but you’re right — they’re fun.
Coach was very patient and seems to be a good guy. Funny that you mentioned Bonds and Aaron. Frank DeFord’s commentary this morning was on Bonds’ impending breaking of Aaron’s record, and whether anyone will laud it.
…whether anyone will laud it?
Or whether anyone will audit?
Hey, didja hear that Sly Stallone pleaded guilty to bringing performance enhancing substances into Australia during a recent visit?
Remember when “The Juice” just referred to OJ Simpson before he was a murderer, and ‘roids weren’t as ubiquitous as they are today? Ah, nostalgia…
that was great!! Happy WW!
Classic. I remember those days too well. The kids necks are barely strong enough to hold their heads up when they wear the helments. Real life bobbleheads!
That was great.
Especially funny to see the poor coach trying so hard, but the will of the boy and the will of the bat seem to eclipse him!
Markus…Great Video. Ben looks similar to all of the kids when they go to their first practice. He’s doing great. You may want to work with him with some sort of bat at home. Just get him to whack something to develop some speed.
It’s amazing…now they all hit, drop the bat, and run to first. When they first start, they don’t know what a base is, and now they actually have some concept of the premise of the game.
In the last game, we played against the Athletics. Their star player was Greystone’s golf Pro’s son. He absolutely ripped the ball, and hit it past the bases IN THE AIR. It crashed into the fence with some heat on it. He hit the ball much harder than anyone else in the league. He hit a home run all three times he came up to bat.
It’s because his father started working teaching him golf at a very early age, and he’s used to following instruction. He picked up on T-ball immediately, and is the star of the league. It doesn’t hurt that he turned five 3 weeks into the season either, when the 4T only requires that you are 4 when the season starts.
